Before You Apply:

This course covers the MEA Aeroskills Training Package units of competency, that should be attained before by candidates who wish to progress toward Licencing.

This course is only suitable for individuals already working in an aircraft maintenance environment, and is not open for individuals on an international student visa.

This course stream includes elective units designed for individuals looking to progress down the Avionics – Fixed Wing pathway.

Who is this course suitable for?

Currently working aircraft engineers with experience working in a live aircraft maintenance environment.

This training product is designed for currently working aircraft engineers with experience working in a live aircraft maintenance environment (authorised by the relevant aviation regulator to undertake aircraft maintenance).

Learners will have experience and/or qualifications in aircraft maintenance. This experience and/or qualifications may have been obtained in another country and some learners may be located overseas.

Note that learners who are on an Australian student visa will not be enrolled in this course, whether they are based in Australia or reside in an overseas country.

Course Entry Requirements

Age Minimum 18 Years
Education Australian High School Year 11 completion with a pass in English and maths; or

Completion of a formal Language literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment tool at ACSF Level 3

Employment Candidate must be working in an aircraft maintenance environment
Computing Desktop or Laptop computer with webcam and speaker, and modern web browser, PDF viewer, and standards-compatible office suite software

Reliable broadband internet connection

An active email address

Intermediate computing skills, including knowledge of how to use internet to access information.

 

Critical Notes

Please read and acknowledge:

  1. You must be employed in an aircraft maintenance environment to be eligible to enrol.
  2. This course is delivered online, as RPL with Gap Training and Assessment
    Learners apply for RPL online and are required to provide all relevant evidence via this mode. If an interview is required, this can be conducted via TEAMS or in person. *Gap training and assessment may be conducted online, in a classroom, or at an aircraft maintenance hangar.
  3. Prior to commencement all students are required to review the Student Handbook and the complete set of policies related to your training at sigma.edu.au/policies
  4. Initial RPL report, career or training advice and guidance will only be released following payment of tuition fees in full.
  5. You must meet the entry criteria to be eligible to enrol.
  6. To attain the practical competencies required by this course, you will be expected to upload approved evidence documentation for RPL assessment (a guide to which can be found in the student handbook.)
  7. You must not be on a student visa; applicants on an Australian student visa are not eligible to enrol.

Course Details

This course includes competencies from the MEA Aeroskills Training Package that meet the requirements of The VET system for the granting of a Diploma of Aeroskills. It is particularly suited for the Avionics person working with Fixed Wing aircraft

Some units included in this course require the prior completion of prerequisite units that may be attained by Recognition for Prior Learning (RPL) for holders of Australian licences or other approved documentation.

N.B. Please note that this course does not lead directly to a Licence Outcome! This is a qualification only (Diploma) and only partially fulfils the requirements of a CASA B2 Licence. For more information, please read the following article regarding the Diploma and CASA Licence.
