This course includes competencies from the MEA Aeroskills Training Package that meet the requirements of The VET system for the granting of a Certificate II in Aircraft Line Maintenance (Gas Turbine Engine/ Rotary Stream).

About the Course

Sigma Aerospace College Certificate II courses are designed for working aircraft engineers and meet the training and assessment requirements for those aircraft workers progressing towards becoming an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.

The VET Certificate courses include all relevant learning materials and assessments for associated ASQA Units of Competency.

Theory training is delivered online via self-paced learning via Sigma’s Learning Management System. Practical training is not included so practical criteria are met via Recognition for Prior Learning (RPL) by uploading suitable evidence.

Before You Enrol:

This course covers the MEA Aeroskills Training Package units of competency, that should be attained for those aircraft workers progressing towards becoming an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and working in the Aircraft Flight Line environment. This course is only suitable for individuals already working in an aircraft maintenance environment, and is not open for individuals on an international student visa.

This course stream includes elective units designed for individuals looking to progress down the Gas Turbine Engine/ Rotary Stream-focused pathway.

Initial payment of a $500 non-refundable enrolment fee is required at the time of enrolment. Unless advised otherwise during onboarding, our course fees are transparent and include ALL required ASQA unit theory training and assessment, RPL services for practical experience, and CASA module gap exams as required (See Policy Page for Details).

Course Duration

24 Weeks
Course duration is the period of time, from the time of enrolment, in which you are required to complete your course including online self-paced theory training and assessments, uploading documentary evidence of practical experience, and completing CASA exams.

Entry Requirements

Age

  • Students must be at least 21 years of age, or turning 21 years old prior to completion of the course.

 

Education

It is mandatory that all candidates applying for admission to this course satisfy the following:

  • Completion of Australian year 10, or equivalent.

Additionally, due to the nature of industry, academic requirements in the following subjects must be met.

English

  • Upper Intermediate English language equivalent to the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority Aviation English language proficiency level 4 or IELTS 5.5.

Mathematics

  • Completion of Mathematics Year 10, or equivalent.

Physics

  • High school physics preferred (not mandatory)

 

Alternative Assessment for Admission

If candidates have not completed, or are unable to provide evidence of completion of the English, Mathematics and Physics education requirements outlined above, admission may be granted based on successful completion of the following:

  • Successful completion of Sigma Aerospace College Core Skills Aptitude Test.

 

Computing

Students on this course require computer access for learning purposes and to complete course assessments. Learners are expected to have at least intermediate computer skills in programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and know how to use the Internet to access information. An active email address for correspondence and training requirements is imperative.

Suggested hardware, software, and Internet requirements include:

  • Desktop or laptop (iPads, tablets, etc may be used, but some software may not function reliably on these devices)
  • Microsoft Office (or similar)
  • PDF viewing software
  • Reliable internet connection (preferably a wired connection as mobile hotspots tend to be too unreliable), capable of running programs such as MS Teams or Zoom, and able to upload and download PDF files
  • A web camera and a speaker

All other learner resources and materials are provided through the learner aXcelerate portal, Learner Guides, Assessment, Unit PowerPoint slides and PDF resources.

 

Important!

This course does NOT include practical training and is only for working aircraft engineers. Practical competencies must be met via Recognition for Prior Learning (RPL). To attain the practical competencies associated with this course, you will be expected to upload the following documentation:

  • Related Log of Industrial Experience pages
  • Journal documents signed by your supervisor
  • Work History Sheets
  • Any Supervisor Signature Registers
  • Type Course Syllabus and Certificates
  • Related Industry Maintenance documentation
  • Commonwealth Statutory Declaration etc

 

To enrol in this qualification you must have access to aircraft & maintenance facilities to complete the practical component – otherwise you are ineligible to enrol and may result in forfeiture of any fees paid.

Critical Notes:

  1. Students looking to accelerate the processing of their RPL report will need to pay in full upfront.
  2. If you believe you have valid previous Aeroskills qualifications, units of competency, or are transferring from another provider and wondering if you can get a discount, select the ‘Pay by Invoice’ option at checkout and following the Client RPL Document Upload process, we will assess if any industry discount applies (without guarantee) and revise the invoice, however this will slow down the process of receiving your initial RPL report.
  3. Initial RPL report, career or training advice and guidance will only be released following payment of tuition fees in full.

It is particularly suited for the person working with Gas Turbine Engine Rotary aircraft, or those seeking a Category A3 licence

(NOTE: Some units included in this course are prerequisite units that may be attained by Recognition for Prior Learning (RPL) for holders of Australian licences or other approved documentation.)
